04-03-2004: VITA and TCE Program Completed Successfully

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program has been completed on 4/03/2004. This free service was started from February 7, 2004 and ran consecutively for 9 weeks. This is the 30th year that Chinese Newcomers Service Center providing this free income tax filing assistance to the low income families and elderly.

During the program period, we help over 1,300 low income families, individuals, and elderly to prepare their tax return. The tax refund claimed for them this year reach a total amount of $768,585.

Chinese Newcomers Service Center would like to thank you all the Volunteers who participated the VITA & TCE program especially to Mr. Henry Hu who lead the team of volunteers, and Mr. Gilbert Guong who lead the reviewers to double check all the tax forms prepared by our volunteers. Without their effort and contribution, this program will not be possible. We look forward to work with all the volunteers again and to serve more people next year.

Preparing Income Tax Return
 

The 2003 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs have been launched on February 7, 2004. The VITA and TCE programs will be held on every Saturday from 2/07/2004 to 4/03/2004 for a continuously 9 Saturday. This year is the 30th year of CNSC providing this meaningful free service. This year, CNSC has assigned 4 sets of computer in our Computer Lab to prepare E-filing (6 units of computer could be used at the same time if needed). On the first day of service, our volunteers had assisted over 80 low-income families to prepare their Income Tax Return.

  CNSC will assist the residents of the Visitacion Valley District to prepare their Income Tax Return. Date of Place picture here service will be on 3/06, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27 (four Saturday in March). Location will be at the Asian Pacific Americans Community Center located at 2442 Bayshore Blvd. San Francisco, CA 94132.

Time past in a flash, soon the year 2003 Income Tax Filing season will begin. Chinese Newcomers Service Center will provide free Income Tax Return assistance to the low income family and the elderly. This year is the 29th consecutive year that CNSC providing this free service. This year, we will also include the Electronic Filing for Income Tax.

In order to serve more people, we need many people to volunteer into this program. If you're interest in this program, please sign up as our VITA/TCE volunteer. Training will be provided.

VITA Volunteer Wanted (Volunteer Registration Form)

Program duration: 2/7/2004 to 4/3/2004 (Every Saturday)
Service time: 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Now accepting service appointment

Those who want to enjoy this free service must meet the following criteria:
  1. Household annual gross income must not exceed:
    • Single: $18,000
    • Household: $28,000
    • Earned interest: $250
  2. Does not own any properties within the United States and overseas.
  3. No investment in stocks, bonds etc or other investments. No rental income.
  4. Must be United States citizens or Legal Permanent Residents. Lives and works in the United States and have a valid Social Security Number (SSN).
  5. One tax return for each appointment. Tax payers' children who to file their own tax return must make individual appointment.
  6. If want to cancel the appointment, please notify CNSC at least 7 days before your appointment date.
  7. For those who have made their appointment, please arrive the site on time. Late comers may not be served.
  8. This free Income Tax Return service was by appointment only. Walk-in tax payers will not be served.
