Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Sponsored by United Way

FAs of April 1, 2006, CNSC’s 33rd year of VITA (Volunteered Income-Tax Assistance) and TCE (Tax Counseling for Elderly) has come to a complete end. We were happy to be sponsored by United Way, Tax-Aid, San Francisco Human Services Agency, and others in order to provide a better and convenient tax-filing service for the community this year. After 9 consecutive weeks since February 11, 2006, CNSC was able to serve over 1000 low-income families, individuals, and elderly to claim up a total of $757,212 in tax refunds, including $534,912 in EITC (Earned Income-Tax Credit).

Throughout the 9 weeks, we thank Mr. Henry Hu and Mr. Gilbert Quong for their dedication to train all the volunteers to become tax preparers and reviewers. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who supported CNSC, and made our VITA program such a success for the community.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Sponsored by United Way

From February 11, 2006 to April 8, 2006, CNSC, sponsored by United Way, will provide tax-filing services for low-income and English-limited individuals/families. This is a project of United Way, Tax-Aid, San Francisco Human Services Agency, and others. If people need help in filing their tax returns, we encourage qualified people to drop by our office and sign-up for an appointment time to take advantage of our services. Our goal is to guide the disadvantaged minorities through filling out their tax forms, and to reduce the intimidation they receive due to language barriers.

Meanwhile, if you're interested in volunteering, CNSC will train you on providing guidance to the needy families about filing their taxes, and at the same time receive an overall accomplishing experience of helping the community.

For a full description of the program, please refer to the flyers posted above, or contact Ms. Kwan at (415) 421-2111 Ext.690.
