09-09-2006: Lotus Gardens Tour & Photography Contest Completed

This summer, CNSC conducted the first Lotus Gardens Tour & Photography Contest from May through September. With the help from various sponsors, CNSC pulled together a new fundraising event and an outdoors activity for the Chinese community.

On June 25th, about 200 people (including CNSC staff, guests, and volunteers) participated in the Lotus Gardens Tour. While most arrived on the three charter buses organized by CNSC, some participants drove to the garden themselves. It was a fun and exciting trip, where there was a buffet and a raffle drawing.

The Photography Contest started in July after the tour. We received nearly a hundred submissions for our Lotus Flower and Personage group. CNSC awarded the winners on September 9th at Chinese Cultural Center. Lotus Flower Category: Hui Qing Wang (1st Place), Hui Wen Li (2nd Place), and Xing Chu Wang (3rd Place); Personage Category: Jin Hui Chen (1st Place), Yue Hua Kuang (2nd Place), and Samuel Ng (3rd Place). In the end, 1st Place Winner Hui Qing Wang donated her prize money to CNSC.

CNSC was happy with the outcome of the events as they both went beyond our expectation. CNSC thank all sponsors and participants for their support throughout the program, and wishes to have this special event again next year. Other than United Commercial Bank as our diamond sponsor, special sponsors include Sing Tao Daily, Sing Tao Chinese Radio, Chinese Cultural Center, DigiArt Photo Studio, Chinese Photographic Society, and Louis H. Ng.

Lotus Gardens Photography Contest
 

Following the Lotus Garden Tour on June 26, 2006, Chinese Newcomers Service Center will be holding a photography contest based on Lotus Garden from July 7, 2006 to August 21, 2006. This event is sponsored by United Commercial Bank and many more organizations. There is a Lotus group and Personage group to this contest in which we welcome participation in both categories. We especially encourage avid photographers to take part in this event.

Lotus Gardens Day Tour
 

On June 25, 2006, Chinese Newcomers Service Center will be having Famous Photographer Mr. Louis Ng to lead a day trip to Lotus Gardens in Modesto. We are happy to be sponsored by United Commercial Bank and many more organizations in which made this tour possible. People will be given a chance to sightsee a vast range of lotuses and other flowers.
