Lotus Garden Artwork Contest Award Ceremony & Charity Sale
 

On Sunday, September 9, 2007, Non-profit organization Chinese Newcomers Service Center (CNSC) successfully held the 2007 Lotus Garden Artwork Contest Award Ceremony/Charity Sale at the San Francisco Chinese Cultural Center ( 750 Kearny St , 3/F) from 12:30pm through 3:30pm. Goals of the event were to fundraise for services to support the Chinese community, as well as sharing the beauty of lotuses through Chinese artwork.

From July, CNSC held the Lotus Garden Artwork Contest based on Modesto 's Lotus Garden for the following four categories: Photography, Brush Painting, Chinese Calligraphy, and Chinese Poetry. The contest was co-sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Center and eight other artwork associations around the Bay Area to encourage participation from the Chinese minorities and flourishing the culture of Chinese artwork. As a result, CNSC received nearly 600 entries from all four categories, where contestants were spread-out from around the Bay Area and even out-of-state. Judging panel included famous Chinese artists in the Bay Area such as retired Professional Photographer Louis Ng and Sing Tao Daily Photographer/Reporter Allen Liu. After deliberations from the judging panel in August, a celebration Award Ceremony was held to recognize the artistic effort of all winning contestants.

A Charity Sale was held at the same time as the Award Ceremony to fundraise for Chinese Newcomers Service Center 's immigration services and programs. Winning artworks from the Artwork Contest and donated masterpieces from this event's sponsors and judges were sold to audiences at the Award Ceremony, and net proceeds go to Chinese Newcomers Service Center.

Lotus Garden Artwork Contest Award Ceremony & Charity Auction
 

After the Lotus Garden Tour on June 23, 2007, CNSC is currently holding the Lotus Garden Artwork Contest until July 31, 2007 for the following categories: Photography, Brush Painting, Calligraphy, and Chinese Poetry. The contest is open to the Bay Area public, and winners will be rewarded accordingly for their artistic effort at the award ceremony stated above.

On the same day, the winning artwork from the above contest will be in a charity auction to help fundraise for CNSC’s services including Saturday operation hours. To heighten the fundraising effect, Bay Area artists will also donate their masterpiece artworks for the charity auction.

CNSC encourages the public to take advantage of this free event to view the various beautiful artworks as well as participating in a charitable event.
