01-12-2008: "Lifemark Cup" Photography Contest Award Ceremony

San Francisco, CA - January 12, 2008 - Chinese Newcomers Service Center (CNSC), a local non-profit agency located in San Francisco Chinatown, held the "Lifemark Cup" Architectural & Environmental Photography Contest Award Ceremony at the San Francisco Chinatown Salvation Army (1450 Powell St., Basement, San Francisco, CA 94133) from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The award ceremony also served as an exhibit where photographers around the Bay Area socialized and shared their artistic skills.

CNSC was sponsored by Lifemark Group to hold the "Lifemark Cup" Architectural & Natural Environment Photography Contest until Friday, January 4, 2008. The contest was free for the public with a chance to win cash prizes. The contest aimed to obtain creative photographs focusing on the memorial parks’ physical beauty and artistic values. Features of the memorial parks include, but not limited to: architectural designs by 20th-century premier architect Julia Morgan, cultural diversity, natural landscapes, and animal habitats.

The contest attracted diverse participation throughout the Bay Area, where the center received nearly 100 entries. Judging panel included Lifemark Group President Andy Bryant and Director of Field Force Anthony Kan, and famous photographers in the Bay Area such as Louis Ng and Anne Xu. All submitted artwork were anonymous, and were given a participation number to ensure a fair and honest judgment. After deliberations from the judging panel on January 7th, a celebration Award Ceremony was held to recognize with cash prize for the artistic effort of Winner Min Xiong Li ($500), First Runner-Up Yue Hua Kuang ($300), and Second Runner-Up David Pan ($200).

The contest seeks to obtain creative photographs focusing on the memorial parks' physical beauty and artistic values. Features of the memorial parks include, but not limited to: architectural designs by 20th-century premier architect Julia Morgan, cultural diversity, natural landscapes, and animal habitats.

*** Due to the absences of the judging panel until January 2008, the deadline is moved for more participants until Friday, January 4, 2008. Realizing that students are out of school until January, CNSC believes that it is a great opportunity to recruit talented photographers from different diversities in the Bay Area.
