CNSC’s 35th year of free tax-filing service for the tax 2007 celebrate our finale on April 5, 2008 to show gratitude for all volunteers' help throughout the season. Over 80 volunteers devoted their Saturdays throughout the tax season to assist over 1,600 low-income individuals/families, seniors, and people with disabilities.

CNSC worked with East West Bank again this year to provide additional tax return filing service during the last two weeks of filing season. In addition to the regular income tax returns, our center also held workshops to educate retired seniors and people with disability to file for this year's Economic Stimulus Program (ESP). Over 700 recipients were served under the ESP workshop and form-filling service.

CNSC will be providing free tax return filing service on Saturdays, February 2, 2008 until April 5, 2008, from 9:00AM - 2:30PM. Chinese Newcomers Service Center is a member of United Way’s Earn It! Keep It! Save It! Coalition and Tax-Aid, where we will be providing the following services for the community:

• Free tax-filing services (Form 1040)
• Helping eligible clients claim EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit)
• Helping eligible clients claim WFC ( Working Families Credit)
• Access a new checking account for clients who are first-time checking account holders

CNSC helps low-income families and residents of the greater Bay Area file their income taxes with electronic filing (E-filing) as well as paper filing. Our center is actively promoting E-filing this year due their efficiency to retrieve tax refunds for clients four weeks after filing.
Chinese Newcomers Service Center is also recruiting volunteers, bilingual in Chinese & English, to help file taxes during the filing season.
